New adventure playground brings local history back to Sommariva Park in Helsingør. The new playground is an entertaining and historically inspired play environment that sparks imagination and engages both young and old.

In collaboration with the architectural firm Dall & Lindhardtsen A/S and the local kindergarten, we have designed a playground inspired by the children’s wishes and three central themes from the Helsingør area.

These themes are interpreted in the playground’s design, where play structures convey local historical narratives. Children can, for example, rock on a cannon, climb a ship or host a tea party in a playhouse.

The playground also includes a StoryTeller, where children can explore local history and listen to stories related to the playground's themes. Even though the playground is centered around local historical themes, the play structures are still designed for open interpretation. This is a conscious choice, creating a playground that both shares local history and allows children to activate their imagination and create their own play worlds.
